We had a wonderful Friday! You all did very well with our L.E.A.P. day! The articles, "What is an Eclipse?" and "What Causes the Tides in the Ocean?", definitely relates to what we will be learning throughout the rest of the unit. For 3rd and 4th period, don't forget to complete to your homework over the break! If I was you, I would recommend you do it early; that way you can spend the rest of your break relaxing:-) I hope you all have a wonderful and SAFE fall break.

I want to congratulate each and every one of you that did very well on our moon phase quiz!!!! As this week comes to an end, we will be discussing eclipses and tides. In Unit 2, I have posted a ppt that goes over eclipses for better understanding. One of my lovely scientists came to class with a moon phase shirt and I had to take a picture! See you all tomorrow!
You all did an AMAZING job with the moon phase oreo lab today! Hopefully, you all had a better understanding of the concept of the moon phases. If you still are confused and/or have any questions, PLEASE let me know; I am here for YOU! Don't forget to complete your moon oreo lab sheet for homework; answer all questions, except #5. Pictures of our wonderful lab day can be seen below.
Good Evening All!!!!
As we were doing the interactive moon phases activity and taking notes, I noticed many of you were getting confused on the 8 phases of the moon. To my lovely 4th period; I would NEVER quit on you all, I love you all way too much!!!!! I know the phases can be confusing; so tomorrow we will be doing a hands-on activity that addresses and clears any misconceptions that any of you may have. Also, I would suggest utilizing the resources in unit 2 for more assistance. I want to ensure that each and everyone has an understanding of the concept of moon phases as we go throughout the unit. As always, I have included some extra resources for better understanding. See you tomorrow! Here is a recap of what took place in class today. As a class, we went to the computer lab to read the article, "Phases of the Moon", complete a writing prompt, and quiz on www.newsela.com. 1st and 4th period you all did really well with annotating the article; using your thinking notes. It was our first time doing this type of assignment as a class; as time goes on, we will become more comfortable with reading and annotating articles. I'm a firm believer in practice makes perfect! My lovely 4th period, your ticket IN the door for Monday will be the 4 questions I gave you all after you completed your assignment. This should be in your science folders. You all have a great weekend!!!!!!
Good Evening All!
Many of you guys did extremely well with the moon phase activity we did in class! I know it was a bit challenging; but that's okay, because we're going to be discussing moon phases throughtout our unit. I enjoyed seeing you all model the phases using the "sun"(lamp), the "golf ball"(moon) and "yourself" (earth). As a friendly reminder, if you did not complete your moon phase activity in class; make sure you complete it for homework. I have included a resource to assist you with the homework in Unit 2. See you all tomorrow! I know many of you enjoyed the password game we did using our vocabulary words. I know this was a new game for many of you; but overall, participation was great! I enjoyed seeing how creative you all could get in using your vocabulary terms. Remember; as a class, we are a TEAM! Moving forward, we will be using our vocabulary words throughout Unit 2; so make sure you have them in your science notebook. Also; since we are moving into a new unit, make sure you have a folder entitled , "Unit 2-Earth, Moon, and Sun". See you all tomorrow!
